Dr Rebecca Orr is a GP register which means she is a fully qualified medical doctor and has worked in Edinburgh Hospitals for over four years. She is wanting to gain supervised experience to become a General Practitioner.
She will be working with us for her final year from February 2021 before hopefully becoming an independent general practitioner.
She will initially be sitting in with other clinicians to learn consultation styles, and then consulting independently but will always be supervised, mentored, and debriefed by a GP.
We endeavor to let you know this at the time of booking your appointment, but please let us know if you do not wish this. Your care is paramount, and your choice will not affect your management.
With your consent, the Registrar may sometimes record your consultation for teaching, training, and assessment purposes, and we will ask permission if this is the case, but feel free to decline this.
The management team is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The team supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Receptionists and Secretaries provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. They make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

District Nurses are qualified nurses who have undertaken a specialist qualification in Community Health. They manage a team of qualified and unqualified nurses to deliver nursing care to patients in their homes. The service is provided for people who are housebound and will assess, plan and provide the most appropriate high standard nursing care. It is a 24-hour responsive service that promotes patient independence through teaching and supporting the patient and their carers. They work in partnership with other members of the Health Care Team and local agencies to maximise the opportunity for patients to live at home.
